This paper argues that Iran shall consider the issue of accession to the WTO in the context of international competitiveness of Iranian firms. To look for lessons from other successful countries, it suggests that Iran shall strengthen its domestic economic base, and implement several domestic reforms to enjoy a fruitful accession. In other words, Iranian policymakers shall follow the accession plan with the aim of the favorable business system as well as strengthen competitiveness of Iranian firms.
